A 13-year-old Pennsylvania girl was found dead in a creek on Sunday, about two days after she went missing while en route to buy a coloring book, according to family members.
Citing Pennsylvania State Police, Time reports that Shevy McGiffin disappeared in Clarion County after making her way to a nearby store.
A search led to authorities finding her body in a creek near the Clarion River. Police are investigating what led to the incident.
Shevy’s parents believe their daughter must have been kidnapped and killed. Her father told WPXI , “She’s so sweet. She’s quiet. She would never run away, I know that. And she loves her family.”
An online fundraising page set up to assist Shevy’s family with funeral expenses has collected more than $11,000 in just one day.
