After its official account tweeted a string of racist and vulgar messages on Friday evening, Buffalo Wild Wings has apologized and says it was hacked.

In about a 10 minute span on Friday evening, the verified account @BWWings sent six disturbing messages — messages that included sexual innuendo and racial slurs, including one Tweet that singled out author and commentator Tariq Nasheed. The account also sent a message about Wendy's using a British slang term to describe a child molester.

The tweets were deleted shortly after they were sent. Buffalo Wild Wings then sent the following message:

"Well, we were hacked.  And it wasn’t funny.  We apologize for the awful posts, which obviously did not come from us."

A spokesperson told the Associated Press that the restaurant chain "will pursue the appropriate action against the individuals involved."
