The Yuma Police Department is looking for an armed robbery suspect, according to a news release from Yuma PD.

On Saturday June 11 just after 8:30 a.m. officers responded to a Chevron at 500 East 32nd Street for a call of an armed robbery.

Police say an unknown man took a Ford F350 after he threatened the driver with a hand gun. The man fled the scene to Country Club Drive where he abandoned the vehicle and then got into a gray or silver Toyota sport like vehicle that has a spoiler and a temporary license plate.

The car then fled northbound on Arizona Avenue. Police say an off duty Border Patrol agent was at the gas station when the armed robbery happened. The Agent attempted to apprehend the suspect while at the Chevron and on County Club Drive.

Police say shots were fired between the Agent and the suspect. The Agent was not injured and it is unknown if the suspect was injured from the shots fired.

The suspect is only being described as a man. Yuma Police have no further description at this time.

Yuma PD is asking for anyone with information to call the Yuma Police Department at 928-373-4700 or Sgt. Freedman at 928-373-4749 or 78-CRIME at 928-782-7463 to remain anonymous.

Yuma Police says if your information leads to an arrest you may receive up to a $1000 reward.
