TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The man authorities identified as one of the suspects in the murder of Tucson Police Cadet Carlos Ramirez has a criminal history.

On Wednesday, a double shooting left Ramirez dead and his fiance, a corrections officer, injured.

Detectives say they have three suspects in connection to the shooting, who all wore masks and black clothing. Surveillance video was released of the group, still dressed in black, at a convenience store near Casino Del Sol.

So far, they have named one of the suspects: 33 year old Alex James Barnett.

They also released video of a gray SUV, caught on video near the murder scene, and on video again when it was abandoned near 33rd and South Palo Verde.

In a post Friday night, the Pima County Sheriff's Department released a new surveillance photo of the man they believe parked the SUV.

Police describe the man as having gray hair, a goggle band on his glasses, a watch or bracelet on the left wrist, light wash or gray jeans and either red and white or orange and white Nike shoes.

When looking into Barnett, KGUN9 found a long list of felonies and misdemeanors dating back about 16 years.

Barnett has been a regular at the Pima County Jail and in Arizona state prisons.

They include multiple counts of car theft, burglaries, identity theft, forgery, drug charges, weapons charges, aggravated assaults, child abuse for letting his 18 month old son be around drugs and guns, and a charge related to trying to strangle his ex-wife.

Most led to sentences between six months and two and a half years.

Investigators urge the public to stay away if they see Barnett, who may be riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, and call 911.
