Buy a new car in the last 20 years? You could qualify for money back!

If you've bought a new car or had a new part installed in the last 20 years, you may be qualified to get some money back.

It's due to a lawsuit settlement involving alleged auto parts price-fixing.

Allegations are the major manufacturers of new parts schemed together to get the price higher than it should be. The makers have denied any allegations of wrongdoing.

The settlement involves new cars bought or leased between 1996 and 2016. It also includes customers who bought new auto parts.

Dozens of auto part makers have settled the case, raising the settlement from $604 million in 2017, to  $1.4 billion in 2018.

The deadline to file a claim remains open. Potential awards depends on how many people qualify.
