If you frequent the North Central area, you know about the issues with the Dutch Bros on Central Avenue and Camelback Road. The Dutch Bros location will be closing its doors… or…window after a Phoenix Zoning Adjustment hearing on Feb. 15.
The location is closing because of all of the traffic congestion caused by being in a small area on the corner of a very busy street. The store is right in front of a bus bay and the lines at the location become so long that they interfere with the traffic on Camelback Road, and to city officials, this becomes a public safety concern.
This comes after receiving an abundant amount of complaints from nearby businesses who said their customers couldn’t access the store due to the road being blocked by cars. In even worse cases there were people parking in their store’s parking spaces so they could walk to the order window at Dutch Bros.
To try and aid these problems, Dutch Bros even set out signs saying to not park in front of the bus bay and closed their walk-up window to limit parking.
But don’t worry Dutch Bros lovers, the new location will be just down the street. A lawyer representing Dutch Bros. said they plan to open a new location at 140 W. Camelback Road just west of the current location.
