TEMPE, AZ — A Tempe father punched and removed a home intruder who scared his young son, according to court paperwork.

Tempe police report that early Sunday afternoon, a man, later identified as Cohen Tadd Martin, 33, was seen on the victim's below ground patio at his apartment near McKellips and Scottsdale roads.

Martin allegedly climbed over the wall to get to the patio.

The victim told Martin to leave and watched as Martin walked away.

A few minutes later, as the victim was unloading groceries, he reportedly saw Martin in his living room.

The victim's nine-year-old son was in the hallway, saw Martin and yelled, before running to hide in a bedroom.

Court records show that the dad punched Martin in the face and struggled to get him out of the apartment.

A friend saw Martin in the home and assisted the victim.

Police located Martin at a nearby business.

Martin allegedly told police that he just moved into a similar apartment and thought the home was his.

Police say Martin was drinking early that morning. He was arrested after being checked out at a local hospital.

Court records show that Martin has two active warrants for his arrest from New Mexico and Texas.

He has been charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
