PHOENIX — A convenience store clerk took things into his own hands Monday morning after being confronted by an armed robber.

Phoenix police say two armed suspects committed three robberies of convenience stores early Monday.

The first two robbery locations were at 12th Street and Maryland Avenue, as well as 7th Street and Bethany Home Road.

At the third robbery attempt, near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road, the convenience store clerk pulled out his own gun and shot one adult suspect.

That suspect has been taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The second suspect, believed to be a juvenile, fled the scene and has not been located. No description of that suspect has been released.

The clerk cooperated with police and has not been charged.
