SURPRISE, AZ — Police say officers found burglary tools tucked away in a suspect's unlikely getaway vehicle: his tricycle.

Surprise police report that on March 1 officers responded to a home near Dysart and Waddell roads for a burglary call.

The resident returned home to find a tricycle parked at his front door and his garage cabinets open.

Officers reportedly found 19-year-old Lavarica Jami Gaines on the back porch of the home.

Police searched Gaines and allegedly found two cut locks, drug paraphernalia, and narcotic drugs, according to a probable cause statement. They also found a backpack containing items taken from the home.

Police say they found burglary tools in the tricycle outside the house.

Gaines allegedly admitted to being in the home, using the resident’s electricity to power his cell phone and smoking Percocet.

He has been charged with burglary.
