A 54-year-old man is behind bars accused of holding scissors to a woman’s throat while she sat at a bus stop.

Leroy Shepard was arrested and booked into jail on charges of threatening and aggravated assault.

According to the police report, on May 13 a woman got off a bus at 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road and was waiting to transfer to another bus. Shepard was on that same bus and got off and approached the woman.

He had scissors in his hand and reportedly asked the woman “if she wanted to die,” according to the report.

The woman pushed the man and walked away, but the woman said he followed her, shoved her into some rocks, held her down and put the scissors to her throat, the report said.

She yelled for help and the man ran away. He was arrested at a local fast-food restaurant where witnesses reported Shepard was “causing a scene.”

Police said the woman was possibly targeted due to her small size.
