PHOENIX — Two men were arrested in Glendale after street racing in Phoenix.

Phoenix police report that about 11:30 p.m. on August 23 two men, 22-year-old Cristian Alejandro Amador and 18-year-old Israel Castillo, were street racing near 43rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

In court paperwork, police said, "the vehicles were engaged in a side by side contest of acceleration." Police attempted to stop the cars near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, about three miles away.

Amador and Castillo made multiple turns to evade police. A police air unit followed them to 67th and Northern avenues, about nine miles away, where undercover units stopped them.

Castillo reportedly told police that he failed to stop because his license was suspended. Amador also had a suspended license and multiple warrants for his arrest, according to court records.

They have both been charged with unlawful flight obstructing a criminal investigation.
