A man allegedly set fire to a Mesa a home after he had an argument with his girlfriend.
Mesa police report that on March 24, Pilar Morales-Espinosa, age 45, set fire to a rubbish pile next to a home near Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue.
Three people inside the home were forced to flee after the fire spread to the residence, causing damage to the interior and attic.
An initial damage estimate was set at about $50,000 to $100,000.
Police say they located Espinosa on April 19 and he reportedly told them that he was furious at his girlfriend over an argument they had.
They say, "He wanted his girlfriend to know he was present at the house, so he lit a piece of paper on fire and threw it on a rubbish pile next to the house."
No one was injured in the fire. Espinosa has been charged with endangerment, criminal damage, and arson.
