A man from Compton, California was arrested in Mesa after buying 15 handguns for California gangs.

Police report that between January and May of this year, 28-year-old Brandon Moss purchased 15 handguns from four gun shops in Phoenix and Mesa. Police say he forged federal ATF documents to make the purchases.

Police say he later took the guns to California where he sold them to people he knowingly knew were gang members.

Police located one of the weapons after it was tossed out of a car window with gang members inside, officials said.

Moss was arrested on May 3 near Southern Avenue and Horne Street in Mesa. He allegedly admitted to police that on the ATF purchase forms, he falsified his address, lied about his drug use and bought the guns for other people, receiving $100 for each gun.

Moss has been charged with weapons misconduct and multiple charges of forgery.
