Police were able to nab a hit and run suspect with the help of a navigation device and witness reports.

Police report that on December 2, a man was hit by a Jeep Liberty as he crossed the intersection of 19th Avenue and Camelback Road.

A witness was able to give police the license plate number of the Jeep as it left the area.

Police say the license plate information lead them to the home of 25-year-old Desmond Edward Bunton near 19th and Glendale Avenues. Police report that a Tom Tom navigation device inside of the Jeep placed the vehicle at the intersection at the time of the collision.

The victim, who police say was in the crosswalk when he was hit, suffered multiple broken ribs and a broken pelvis.

Bunton was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident and marijuana possession.
