A man trespassing at a Phoenix church was disarmed of an 'airsoft' gun and two knives before being held for responding officers.

Phoenix Police report that on June 25 at about 1:45 p.m.a man, later identified as 41-year-old Ruben Vega-Cervantez, was asked to leave St. Anthony's Catholic Church near 1st Avenue and Van Buren Street.

When he refused to leave police were called. Cervantez allegedly pulled out an 'airsoft' pistol and told the victim, "I'm going to shoot you in the head."

Police say Cervantez was very intoxicated and the victim was able to disarm him of the gun. Cervantez then later pulled a steak knife on the victim and then a folding knife. The victim was also able to disarm him of those weapons as well.

The victim held Cervantez down until he complained about the heat of the sidewalk, so the victim moved him to a shaded area until police arrived.

Cervantez has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespassing.
