MESA, AZ — A caretaker at a Mesa group home is accused of assaulting a teenage boy.

On May 13 Mesa police arrested 61-year-old Anthony Kojo Adusie at his home near University Drive and Ellsworth Road.

Police say two staff members saw Adusie punch and kick a 14-year-old client at a Mesa group home, where he has worked for the past seven months. The teen reportedly has "severe behavioral health issues."

The victim had a bruise above their right eye, according to police.

Adusie initially denied striking the victim, saying, "he only extended his arm to prevent the victim from biting him." He later allegedly admitted to striking the victim one time.

He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
