A west Phoenix resident stabbed with a screwdriver assists another resident in capturing the suspect.

Phoenix police report that on April 5 a man, later identified as, 29-year-old Martin Del Rio, allegedly removed a screwdriver and a hammer from a backyard shed and attempted to enter a home near 40th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Witnesses say they saw Del Rio jump over the fence from the backyard into the front yard and cross the street.

There he reportedly jumped another fence getting into the backyard of a home. He confronted two residents and allegedly stabbed one in the hand with the screwdriver and swung the hammer at the other. He then ran away. The two victims chased after Del Rio, capturing him in the same neighborhood and holding him for police.

Del Rio is being charged with criminal trespassing, burglary, and aggravated assault.
