PHOENIX — A Phoenix man has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison for killing his girlfriend, and another seven years for an unrelated conviction for aggravated assault.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Jude Jennifer Ryan Touhill has sentenced Kodi Bowe to 20 years imprisonment in the 2017 shooting death of 21-year-old Taylorlyn Nelson.
Court spokesman Bryan Bouchard says Bowe was sentenced Friday. Bowe also received a consecutive sentence of seven years for aggravated assault, resulting in 27 years imprisonment for both charges.
Bowe earlier pleaded guilty to murder in the death of Nelson, who was shot inside their trailer. Authorities say Kodi Bowe's brother, Maxx, held down Nelson's shoulders while he shot her in the head.
Four months later, divers recovered Nelson's body at Lake Pleasant, located about 40 miles north of Phoenix.
Maxx Bowe earlier pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and was sentenced to 10 years.
