After a man was arrested in west Phoenix, a woman helped herself to police gear that fell on the ground during a scuffle between the suspect and officers.

Phoenix Police report that on March 19, officers arrested 31-year-old Adonis Eugene Jones for a warrant out of Wisconsin. The arrest was made at a bus stop near 87th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Police say Jones tried to run from officers and fought to be taken into custody.

During the scuffle, some police gear fell on the ground.

That's when 42-year-old Collette Ann Taylor reportedly grabbed several of the items that fell, including body camera equipment, sunglasses, money, and cards.

A DPS Trooper allegedly witnessed Taylor putting the items in her purse.

Police did, in fact, find the items in Taylor's purse. They say the value of the items taken was about $1,900.

Taylor was arrested for theft and tampering with evidence.
