A Scottsdale gym owner was arrested after he reportedly placed a hidden camera in his ex-girlfriend's bathroom.

Phoenix police report that on November 2, they arrested 43-year-old Shawn Leroy Dowdy at his home near 36th Street and Thunderbird Road.

Police say Dowdy's ex-girlfriend was in her bathroom, drying her hair, when she noticed something in an air vent. She contacted police after removing a camera and battery pack.

Investigators examined the SD card in the camera and found "numerous video files," each about one minute long. They say the camera was motion activated.

One of the first videos allegedly captured images of Dowdy wearing a hat with the logo of the Scottsdale gym that he owns.

Court records show that Dowdy has two orders of protection filed against him by the victim. He has already been convicted of violating one of those orders.

Dowdy has been charged with burglary and voyeurism.
