PHOENIX — Authorities are investigating after a Phoenix woman said she woke up to find a burglar in her bedroom.

Phoenix police report on January 30, a neighbor witnessed 22-year-old Jesus Antonio Garcia enter an apartment near McDowell Road and 43rd Avenue through a broken window.

The witness alerted the complex manager who went to check it out and reportedly saw Garcia coming out of the window.

Police say while in the home, Garcia allegedly stole an iPad and jewelry worth about $1,200. He turned on the lights in a bedroom where the victim and her three-year-old were sleeping. After seeing the woman, Garcia ran away.

Officers were able to locate and arrest Garcia a few blocks away.

Garcia reportedly told police that he, "uses heroin and had no money to buy drugs."

He is now facing burglary charges.
