An accused stalker reportedly brought a wooden pole with nails to a woman's home in Mesa.

Mesa Police report that on April 8, just after midnight, they were called to a home near Gilbert Road and Southern Avenue.

A woman called saying her ex-boyfriend, 54-year-old John Clifford Stockhoff, cut the power to her house and was banging on her door.

When officers arrived, they located Stockhoff, dressed in black and wearing gloves, at the front door of a neighbor's home.

He ran from police but was soon arrested nearby.

Police say they found a serrated knife, a "long wooden pole with large nails sticking out," a black mask and a hat near a neighbor's house.

Stockhoff was found in possession of a black BB gun which appeared to be a real weapon and methamphetamine.

Police say the woman had recently gotten an order of protection against Stockhoff, but it hadn't been served yet.

Stockhoff, who police say has seven felony convictions, has been charged with stalking and resisting arrest.
