MESA, AZ — A Mesa family woke early Christmas morning to find their neighbor had driven into their home.

Mesa police report that early Christmas morning, David Mackintosh Gomez, age 25, collided with his neighbor’s home, near Mesa Drive and Southern Avenue.

Police say Gomez lost control while making a turn and crashed into the house.

Gomez allegedly admitted to police that he had been drinking whiskey prior to the collision.

Police say his preliminary breath test registered a .09.

His passenger in the car suffered a broken hip, according to court documents.

Though no one in the house was injured in the crash, Gomez reportedly did over $20,000 in damage to the home.

Gomez has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage.
