PD: Man with hatchet disarmed, thrown off Phoenix city bus

PHOENIX - A man with a hatchet on a Phoenix city bus was disarmed by the driver and thrown off after making threats.

Phoenix police report that on September 6, 57-year-old Phillip Lehman attempted to board a city bus near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road. Lehman had been removed from a bus earlier that day for disorderly conduct.

When the bus driver told Lehman he couldn't board the bus, he reportedly grabbed a hatchet and threatened the driver saying, "I'll show you."

The driver wrestled the hatchet away from Lehman and was able to lock him out of the bus until police arrived.

Lehman has been charged with aggravated assault.
