A Goodyear man, who damaged his water meter after the city cut off his services, caused a water leak costing thousands of dollars.

Goodyear police report that on August 24 they arrested 44-year-old Daniel Edward Vaughn after he allegedly damaged his water meter three times after his water was shut off by the city.

Police say city employees came out to his home near Sarival Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road and turned off his water for non-payment.

Police say Vaughn broke into the utility box and turned the water back on. They say city employees turned off the water two more times and Vaughn broke into the utility box and turned the water back on each time.

The last time they came to his home they reportedly saw damage to the utility box and water overflowing into the street.

The city reported the damage total to be over $3,100.

Vaughn has been charged with criminal damage and fraudulently obtaining city services.
