A Glendale man is accused of sexually abusing a pre-teen child several times over a two-year period.

Phoenix police report that from August 2015 until October 2017, 69-year-old Rosendo Peralta Esquivel sexually abused a pre-teen girl several times.

Most of the incidents occurred at the girl's house in Phoenix.

Esquivel, a family friend, would visit from time to time.

After the accusations came to light, police recorded a call from the victim to Esquivel where he allegedly admitted to inappropriately touching the girl.

He was arrested on December 5 at his home near 43rd and Peoria avenues.

Upon his arrest, Esquivel was asked why he did it and reportedly responded by saying, "Because it was easy, and he just had some crazy thoughts."

He is being held on a $250,000 bond on multiple charges of sexual abuse and child molestation.
