A couple was arrested in Phoenix for allegedly using forged gift cards and credit cards to withdraw thousands of dollars from Phoenix area banks.

Phoenix police report that from July of this year until September 20, Kelly Carolina Granado Montano, age 34, and Jorge Luis Julio, age 42, used gift cards and credit cards with false information embedded on the magnetic strip to remove money from ATMs.

Several of the cards were seized by the ATM near 44th Street and Thomas Road.

Upon examination, the cards were allegedly encoded with information with valid debit cards.

Bank video reportedly shows Montano and Julio using the cards to withdraw the money.

Police say that before a traffic stop they observed Montano trying to hide a bag of cards under the car seat.

Police and bank officials are continuing their investigation, which may involve other suspects in Arizona and California.

Julio and Montano, who are both from Venezuela, were arrested and charged for fraudulent schemes.
