PHOENIX — A home burglar allegedly returned to the scene of the crime wearing the victim's robe.

Phoenix police report that on February 22, they responded to a home near 32nd Street and Thomas Road for a reported burglary.

The victim came home to find damage to her front door, and when she entered the home, she allegedly found an unknown man inside. The woman ran out of the house and contacted the police. When police arrived, the suspect, later identified as Juan Carlos Zavaleta, 26, had already left the area.

Police received another call from the victim about three hours later, saying Zavaleta had returned. He was allegedly sitting on the ground in front of the home, wearing her husband's robe.

Upon his arrest, Zavaleta allegedly admitted forcing his way into the home the night before. Police say he spent the night in the house and cooked breakfast before being spotted by the homeowner.

Zavaleta has been charged with burglary.
