AHWATUKEE, AZ — A suspected burglar threatened a firefighter at a fire station with a golf club and screwdriver.

Phoenix police report that on the morning of May 30 a firefighter found Joseph Angel Rascon, 32, rummaging through a storage cabinet at fire station #38, near 48th Street and Warner Road.

When confronted, Rascon allegedly grabbed a golf club and threatened the firefighter. The firefighter was able to take the club away from Rascon, who then threatened him with a screwdriver saying, "he would kill him if he didn't back up."

Rascon then reportedly left the vehicle bay and climbed over a wall.

About two hours later, police got a call from residents in the same neighborhood saying a strange man was knocking over garbage cans and kicking them.

When police arrived, they found Rascon allegedly lying on the ground and banging on a garage door.

Police say medical gloves, belonging to the fire station, were found in his pockets.

Rascon has been charged with burglary and aggravated assault.
