COHASSET, Mass. (AP) — A Boston woman is expected to survive after being stabbed by a man she met on Tinder, according to the Associated Press.

A press statement released by the Cohasset Police Department states Maegan Tapley, 24, met 25-year-old Erich Stelzer on the popular dating app, Tinder.

The police department says they received a call for a disturbance at Stelzer's home around 10 p.m. on December 27.

When they arrived to the home, they found Stelzer actively attacking Tapley with multiple weapons, including a knife.

Police used a taser to subdue Stelzer, which allowed Tapley to escape.

Tapley was transported to an area hospital with extensive stabbing and slashing injuries.

Though she is currently recovering in the hospital, the Associated Press reports Tapley will need to see an eye specialist and undergo plastic surgery.

Police say EMTs provided Stelzer medical treatment at the scene, but he became unresponsive while being transported to the hospital.

He was later pronounced dead.

Medical examiners are conducting an autopsy and state police are investigating the incident, according to the Associated Press.
