GUADALUPE, AZ — A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Guadalupe last October.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reports that on Oct. 24 of last year, they responded to a report of multiple shots being fired. Deputies say a man, later identified as Emilio Elias Romero, 19, fired multiple shots at a car carrying a man and four children ages 11, 10, 9 and 8 years old.

None of the children were struck, however, the driver was shot in the back. The victim later recovered at the hospital, but the bullet was unable to be removed.

Deputies say Romero was the man who fired the shots at the passing car. Romero is also accused of pistol-whipping another man.

MCSO has been seeking Romero since the day of the shooting.

He was located and arrested Saturday night.

Romero is being held on a $1,000,000 cash bond on multiple counts of aggravated assault and aggravated assault on a minor.
