A Sun City musician accused of downloading child pornography told police he was conducting "research" for a song.

According to court documents, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office cyber detectives found hundreds of files of images and videos depicting child pornography on 48-year-old Jon David Miller's laptop.

Authorities were alerted to the images by Miller's girlfriend. She was using his laptop to print of unrelated photos when she noticed 11 files with similar file names. She opened one of the files and realized it was of child pornography, according to documents.

Miller was already in jail on unrelated charges. On Feb. 19, he was questioned and admitted to detectives to downloaded the files over the last year.

He reportedly told them the images "intrigued him" and that he was researching child pornography because he wanted to write songs about it and raise public awareness, according to police records.

Miller is charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
