CASA GRANDE, AZ — A driver is facing charges after leading a police pursuit on Thursday morning.

According to the Department of Public Safety, it started on Interstate 10 eastbound at Chandler Boulevard when the driver of a Ford F-150 drove up on a trooper at a high rate of speed while the trooper had his rear lights on in preparation to make a traffic stop.

The driver then passed the trooper and took off at a high rate of speed.

The trooper initiated a traffic stop but the driver continued on, leading to a pursuit.

The truck was eventually spiked at milepost 181, deflating both front tires, said DPS.

The driver continued going toward Casa Grande where a successful PIT maneuver was conducted at milepost 192, and the driver was taken into custody.

He is now being identified as Carlos Martinez Baldenegro, 38, of Tucson.

He is also expected to face charges in Maricopa County.
