A DPS K-9 officer found 5,000 Percocet pills in a suspect’s car during a recent traffic stop.

The Department of Public Safety reports that on August 2 they arrested Jasiel Uriarte Montes and Guillermo Verduzco, both 41, in Phoenix.

A DPS trooper noticed a vehicle speeding and tailgating another car on Interstate 17 near Thomas Road.

After the trooper pulled over the vehicle, he saw, "several signs of criminal activity," and asked to search the car.

His K-9 partner, 'Max' conducted the search and located about 5,000 Percocet pills, in several plastic bags under the rear passenger seat.

DPS said the pills are worth about $75,000.

Verduzco reportedly told DPS that he was going to be paid $2,500 for setting up the drug deal.

They are now being charged with transporting narcotic drugs and conspiracy.
