PHOENIX — A DUI suspect, driving the wrong way on Interstate 17, was caught by DPS.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety reports that about 1:20 a.m. on March 1, a trooper saw a car traveling northbound on the southbound exit ramp at I-17 and Thomas Road.

The driver, Paul Ivan Hernandez, 35, provided his Mexican voter registration card as his identification.

He allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol earlier that night. DPS says his preliminary breath test registered a .207 B.A.C.

When searching Hernandez, a trooper reportedly found a small bag of crystal meth.

Hernandez has been charged with aggravated DUI and possession of dangerous drugs.
