A cabbie fought off a would be robber while being tazed in north Phoenix.

Court records show that police used a cell phone to track down a man that tazed a cabbie in a robbery attempt on April 20.

Police report that around 4:30 a.m. a cabbie picked up a man in the area of 22nd Street and Baseline Road and transported him to an apartment complex near Interstate 17 and Thunderbird Road.

He stopped the cab and informed the man that the fare was $50 and then was allegedly tazed in the neck.

The cabbie reported to police that, "he could hear the tazer sparking and was able to fight off the attack from the suspect." The suspect, 26-year-old Dametrius Harden, ran away.

Police were able to track down Harden by the cell phone number he gave to the cabbie.

Harden was located and identified by the victim and then arrested by police on June 6.

Harden refused to speak to police following his arrest and is being charged with armed robbery.
