A Phoenix woman is recovering from injures she got when her ex-boyfriend ran her down with his truck.
Court documents show that on March 7, her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Angel Madrid, struck her with his truck, knocking her over 80 feet and causing her to flip in the air 2-3 times, before hitting the ground and breaking her leg.
Police say the victim was standing outside her home near 15th Avenue and Dunlap Road when a man in a truck came up and threw some items at her and her new boyfriend.
The two ran after the truck on foot, when Madrid turned the truck around and went after them, causing the boyfriend to pull the victim to safety to avoid getting hit.
Police report that the two got in a car and another friend got on his motorcycle to chase down Madrid who stopped at a stop sign about a block away.
The man on the motorcycle laid down his bike in the street and, as the victim was helping him pick up the motorcycle, Madrid again turned his truck around, crossed the centerline and hit the victim.
Witnesses told police she flew about 80 feet and flipped 2-3 times in the air before landing.
Police say Madrid was going about 40 miles per hour when he struck the victim.
The woman was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital where she had surgery for a broken femur. She also had several other scratches and bruises and possibly a broken nose.
Madrid was already in jail on another matter,l when he was arrested in this incident. He's been charged with aggravated assault and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
