Turf Paradise is canceling even more racing days, citing the coronavirus and the economic uncertainties the pandemic has caused.

The Phoenix horse racing track last held a race on March 10. In the spring it canceled all events that were set to run through May because of Covid-19. Now the track will not hold its 2020-2021 meet, which would have spanned from November to May. The track’s normal race meet days have traditionally gone from October to May.

On Aug. 13, Turf Paradise informed the Arizona Racing Commission that it would be declining the proposed 121 race dates for the 2020-2021 meet.

“Health concerns and economic realities have left us with no choice but the cancel the meet,” Turf Paradise General Manager Vince Francia said in statement.
