A Valley businessman who had been convicted of tax evasion has been apprehended in Mexico after failing to appear for his sentencing.

Kevin Scott Wynn of Scottsdale was convicted of tax evasion and three counts of failure to file a tax return in December 2019. After his trial, Wynn was released pending sentencing, but was subject to a curfew and electronic monitoring, federal authorities said in a statement.

On June 30, about four weeks before his sentencing, Wynn cut off his ankle monitor and left it outside his office.

Ahead of that time, federal authorities said that Wynn withdrew more than $1 million in cash from his business bank accounts.
