Summer is usually the slower part of the year at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, but this year August proved to be the airport’s best month since March.
The Covid-19 pandemic forced a dramatic decline in commercial airline passenger traffic, but the latest report from the Phoenix Aviation Department shows that more consumers are slowly returning to air travel.
In August, Sky Harbor recorded 1,409,849 passengers that either flew into or out of the region’s primary airport.
While better than April, May, June or July, it was still down 61.4% from the 3.7 million people who used the airport in August 2019.
