Tempe-based Amkor Technology Inc. did a bit of money magic in 2019, turning a $6.67 share price as of Jan. 1 into $13 by Dec. 31, just in time for stockholders to buy extra champagne for the new year.
That 94.9% price increase during the course of the year topped all Arizona-based, publicly held companies with a market capitalization in excess of $1 billion.
Although Amkor share prices fell in February when CEO Steve Kelley forecast first-quarter revenue of $880 million, the company picked up ground after it beat that mark by $14 million and maintained momentum through the rest of the year.
Among the other big companies that saw their share prices boom during 2019 were cable television provider Cable One, Insight Enterprise Inc., among others.
