PHOENIX — Restomods may not have been the highest-priced car at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson auction on Wednesday, but the cars took nearly half the spots in the top 10.

While those restored and modified cars, designed to showcase classic looks with modern car underpinnings, drew a lot of bids, it was a classic restored muscle car that landed the top spot on Wednesday — with a 1967 Camaro not far behind in the overall bidding.

Restomods are a recent addition for classic car collectors, and they have appeal of younger generations of collectors. Several auctioneers cited them as a way to bring in in those buyers to auctions.

Wednesday's results continued the Barrett-Jackson trend of introducing more expensive cars every day as the auction week unfolds, with two of the top 10 drawing bids of more than $100,000. That trend will increase as more high-profile cars cross the block into the final weekend.
