Scottsdale golf executive elected as PGA of America president

Jim Richerson, the senior vice president of operations for Scottsdale golf course management company Troon, was elected on Oct. 29 to be the 42nd president of the PGA of America.

Richerson, a 32-year golf industry veteran, will serve in the role for a two-year term. The PGA of America is the world’s largest sports organization with more than 29,000 PGA professionals associates as members. PGA of America represents all sorts of golf professionals across the country, not just those that play in the PGA or LPGA tours.

Richerson, who also lives in Scottsdale, has worked for Troon since 2017. He is part of the team responsible for growing and operating Troon’s portfolio of managed facilities throughout the company’s related brands.

As PGA president, Richerson told the Business Journal that his main focus is helping grow the game of golf by giving its members the right training, methods and funds to do so.
