The founder of Nikola Corp. promised thousands of jobs in Arizona after announcing the company’s factory in Coolidge will break ground July 23.
Nikola plans to build its fleet of hydrogen-fueled hybrid semi-trucks at the 1 million-square-foot Coolidge facility, with production expected to begin in 2022 or 2023.
Electric battery trucks, which will begin production in Germany next year, will also be built in the Pinal County plant.
Trevor Milton, Nikola’s executive chairman, made the announcement on Twitter late last week.
