An East Valley company says it is set to produce up to 50 million surgical grade masks per month with the launch of its new manufacturing facility in Mesa.

US Power AZ PPE’s new facility at the Gateway Technology Commerce Center, near the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, is capable of producing about 120 of its three-ply disposable and recyclable masks per machine per minute and can quickly expand to meet demand.

The manufacturer said it is starting with 40 workers and will have an anticipated 60 more jobs by the end of the year.

Kevin Thorpe, president of US Power AZ PPE, said he hopes the company helps to fill the need for masks to allow Arizonans to return to normal activities and is ready to help supply students and others around the state.
