A California-based fast-casual chain known for its burgers is expanding into Arizona with plans to open three restaurants in the next two years.

The first Farmer Boys restaurant is under construction and slated to open in the first quarter of 2021 at the new City Gate Marketplace in Gilbert, the chain announced Wednesday.

Another two locations are planned to open in Phoenix and Tempe in early 2022.

Longtime Farmer Boys franchisee Omar Mawas will operate the first restaurant.
