Amazon rolls out health clinics for Phoenix employees, family members as part of pilot program

PHOENIX — Amazon Inc. and national provider Crossover Health opened three health centers in the Phoenix area as part of a pilot program to give employees of the tech behemoth and their families easy access to health care.

The new health centers are in Phoenix's Maryvale neighborhood, Tempe and Tolleson, and are part of a plan to establish 20 centers around the country specifically for Amazon employees. In metro Phoenix, more than 50,000 Amazon employees, including part-time, full-time and seasonal employees and their families will be eligible for care in the new centers.

“Access and convenience is a big issue,” Derek Rubino, senior program manager of Amazon workplace health & safety special programs said of Amazon employees, especially those who work in warehouses. “A lot of times they work in industrial areas and the warehouses are always open, which makes it difficult to access strong primary care.”
