MARSHALLTOWN, IA — A 13-year-old Iowa boy reported missing more than a week ago was found dead amid freezing weather, police say.
Corey Brown was reported missing from Marshalltown on January 22. Police asked the public to search all properties and buildings for the young boy.
Police posted on Sunday saying Brown’s body was found in a secluded area of the town five days later.
They say there is no evidence of any criminal activity but his cause of death is still under active investigation.
The National Weather Service reported that temperatures in the area dropped into the single digits at times with wind chill far below zero degrees. They also reported winds, snow and fog in the area over the past few days.
