Check your fridge.

Whole Foods Market is voluntarily recalling Maytag Raw Milk Blue Cheese due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

It's a nationwide recall.

A statement on the Whole Foods website reads:

"Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."

Two lots of the product in Iowa tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.  The company said there are no reported illnesses.

According to Whole Foods, the recalled cheese was sold cut and packaged in clear plastic wrap reading “Maytag Blue Raw Milk,” “Maytag Blue” or “Maytag Iowa Blue Cheese”  with PLU numbers beginning with 293308 and “sell-by” dates of 1/20/2016 through 3/21/16.

Customers are advised to throw it away and bring their receipt into the store for a full refund.  Consumers with questions may call 512-477-5566, extension 20060, Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
