The city of Surprise will now offer residents a new way to keep up with nearby crime.

A new app, called “Neighbors”, was designed by the home security company, Ring.

The Surprise Police Department announced last week that it will be partnering with the app in efforts to keep track of crime occurring in the area. The department hopes this will be another tool that can be used to connect residents with law enforcement.

The “Neighbors” app allows users to post and share crime alerts via text, photo, and video off their mobile device or security camera.

Below is a recap of Ring’s most popular timeline footage of 2018:

Posts are reviewed by Ring personnel before being posted on the app’s timeline.

All posts remain anonymous unless posted by Ring or local law enforcement and can be deleted at anytime. Users exact address location cannot be found on the app, solely their radius location.

The app offers real-time crime alerts to users in the nearby area, making catching a crime as easy as scrolling down your timeline feed.

“Neighbors” can be accessed in cities all over the country with already over a million users. The amount of alerts per day can vary depending on the surrounding area.

You can download the free app and customize the nearby areas that you would like to receive crime updates.
